Sleep & Insomnia

Sleep is something most of us take for granted—until we have trouble getting enough of it.

I became interested in sleep because it affects so many other aspects of health. Poor sleep has been associated with metabolic health, cardiovascular health, cognitive function, mood, and healthy aging.

Insomnia is particularly interesting because the solution is not always simply to spend more time in bed. Some of the most effective approaches involve changing our sleep habits and the way we think about sleep.

This section looks at why sleep matters, what can cause insomnia, what may help us sleep better, and the importance of recognizing conditions such as sleep apnea.
